Reload- Not Rebuild
By Jase Peeler
The Dorman Cavaliers Girls Swim Team is ready to compete. After losing 3 school record holders to graduation, the team is not trying to rebuild- they are reloading. The Cavs retain 8 varsity returners led by school record holders, all-state award winners, and state qualifiers Hannah Weber and Alaina Smith, who look to build upon their outstanding performances of last year. The team also returns last year’s most improved and state qualifier Emily Hovis, along with last year’s True Blue Cavalier and state qualifier Evelyn Shrader. The team also welcomes 6 newcomers to the team and is excited about the potential of a young core.
After going undefeated in dual meets and winning the region last year, the team looks to continue to finish in the top 3 after a very difficult region realignment. The Cavs finished 4th in state last year and look to continue their success against some tough competition. According to Head Coach Amy Bailey, “We have strong leaders with a lot of swimming experience to lead this group of girls who are ready to build on the successes of last year. We return a team composed of school record holders, all state swimmers, and a large crop of new young swimmers. It should be a fun year!”. The team looks to continue a tradition of success in both the region and the state.
