This week’s Dorman High School Female Athlete of the Week is Jenna Holland.  Jenna led the Lady Cavalier Tennis team to an undefeated week, with wins over Greer and Boiling Springs.  Holland won 6-3, 7-5 in the Greer match and 6-1, 6-2 in the Boiling Springs match.  “Jenna's wins were a key to our success this week. Her hard work in the off-season and mental toughness were pivotal in securing both victories. Her shot selection has grown vastly in the last year. Her strategy was well thought out and executed perfectly, which led to her success. Jenna is our Varsity captain and is having a stellar senior season. Well done, Jenna!” says Head Coach Mary Flynn.  For being selected as the Female Athlete of the Week Jenna will receive a framed certificate and t-shirt.

This week’s Dorman High School Male Athlete of the Week is Caleb Bailey.  Caleb helped the Dorman Boys Swim team to a 3rd place finish (20 teams) in Upstate Invitational held Saturday at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center.  Earlier in the week, the boys dominated a quad-dual meet taking the wins against Boiling Springs, Oakbrook Prep, Seneca, and Walhalla.  On Saturday, Caleb led the charge at the Upstate Invite, swimming his way to a couple more automatic state qualifying times in the 200 free (1:50.62) and the 500 free (5:07.84). He is now qualified to swim five different events at state and is currently ranked top 5 in the state in three of these events. Caleb was a major contributor in the Cavalier A relays with a come from behind win in the 200 Free Relay and a third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Caleb scored 30 of the Cavaliers 99 points.  On Tuesday night, he once again led the charge in the pool as the Boys swept all 4 dual meet results with convincing wins over all opponents keeping them undefeated in dual meets this season.  Relays were dominant and Caleb once again led the way with wins in the 200 IM (2:01.11), and 100 free (50.09). The winning relays were comprised of 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay.  “Caleb is an incredibly dedicated swimmer and is a good teammate. He leads his team by example and sets the expectations high for those around him with his hard work ethic. His versatility makes him well rounded in all the events and he is a teammate you can count on to do his part” says Head Coach Amy Bailey. For being selected as the Male Athlete of the Week Caleb will receive a framed certificate and t-shirt.
