This week’s Dorman High School Female Athlete of the Week is Abby Franks. Abby shot a 2 under par 70 to lead the Lady Cavalier Girl’s Golf team to the Lady Rebel Invitational title at River Falls Golf Club. Franks was the individual medalist with the low round of the tourney. “Abby is a true leader in every aspect. Her dedication on the golf course pays off in every event- she is consistent, and continuously striving to improve her game. Her round of 70 and finishing as the tournament medalist is a reflection of her hard work. I am excited to see her continue to finish strong in all of her events this season!” says Head Coach Olivia Herring. For being selected as the Female Athlete of the Week Abby will receive a framed certificate and t-shirt.
This week’s Dorman High School Male Athlete of the Week is Biggs Fowler. Biggs was instrumental in the boy’s come from behind team win over cross-town rivals Byrnes. The score came down to the wire with the Cavaliers defeating the Rebels in the final relay event of the evening, securing the win. In his first relay swim, Biggs swam the breaststroke leg of the B 200 Medley Relay (split 33.82) to score critical points to start the evening. He then earned his first career state cuts with consideration times in both of his individual events, the 200 IM (2:26.00) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.18). The A 200 Free Relay with Fowler won by five seconds, going a final time of 1:46.91, thus earning the crucial 10 points for the huge team win. “Biggs is a versatile asset, has been working hard in the off-season, and is seeing some nice success in the early dual meets of the season. He is establishing himself as a top performer on the team in attempt to secure himself a position on top relays. The Boys team is currently undefeated on the season” says Head Coach Amy Bailey. For being selected as the Male Athlete of the Week Biggs will receive a framed certificate and t-shirt.
